Speedlio tests your internet speed in a three-lap race: Lap 1 is ping, Lap 2 is download and Lap 3 is upload. Tap or click Start race, and in about half a minute you'll have all three.

Common questions

Why is my result different from another speed test? Each test uses its own servers and method, and your speed changes from minute to minute. Wi-Fi is the biggest factor: on a phone, distance from the router can easily halve the result. For the fairest number, test close to your router, with other downloads paused.

Why do the app and speedlio.com sometimes differ a little? The app tests against Speedlio's own server on Amazon CloudFront; the website uses Cloudflare's speed test servers. They can differ by a few percent.

How much data does a test use? It depends on your speed, because each lap runs for a set time. A fast line uses more: a test at 500 Mbps uses roughly 650 MB, while a 20 Mbps line uses about 30 MB. The amount is shown under your results. On cellular, the app reminds you of this before you start.

The app says too many tests have come from my internet address. To keep the app's test server fair for everyone, one internet address can only run so many tests in a few minutes. Wait about 5 minutes and try again. On cellular, many people can share one address, so this can happen even if you've only run one test.

The test stopped part-way. A test stops if you leave the app or page, or lose your connection. The app also stops if you switch between Wi-Fi and cellular, because a half-and-half result would be wrong. Any lap that finished keeps its number; tap or click Race again to run a full test.

Does Speedlio collect my data? No. There are no accounts, no tracking and no saved results. See the privacy policy.
