Speedlio is a speed test, and that's all it does. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it doesn't save your results. This page covers the Speedlio iPhone app and the website at speedlio.com. Both are made by Peaklio LLC.
The short version
- We don't ask who you are, and we don't collect your name, email, location, contacts or anything else about you.
- Your results stay on your screen. They aren't saved and aren't sent to us or anyone else.
- To test your connection, your device has to exchange data with a test server, so that server sees your internet address, as every website does. We don't keep a log of it.
The iPhone app
What a test does. The app measures ping (how quickly the server answers), download and upload. It downloads a file of random data, uploads random data that the app makes up on the spot, and times both. The uploaded data is thrown away as soon as it arrives. Nothing from your phone, such as photos or files, is ever sent.
Where the test goes. The app tests against Speedlio's own test server, run on Amazon CloudFront (Amazon Web Services). The app talks to nothing else. Like any web server, it sees your phone's internet address (IP address) for as long as the test runs: it needs it to send the data back from a city near you, and to stop one address from running too many tests in a short time. We have turned off the server's request logs, so we don't keep a record of who ran a test or what the results were.
What stays on your phone. Nothing. The app doesn't save your results, settings or any history, and it doesn't cache the test data.
No third parties. The app contains no third-party code: no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or social media tools.
Apple. Apple handles downloads and updates through the App Store. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. Apple's own privacy policy covers this.
The website, speedlio.com
- Hosting: the pages are served by Vercel, which sees your internet address in order to send them, like any web host.
- Fonts: the lettering is loaded from Google Fonts, so Google sees your internet address when a page loads.
- The test: the website's speed test runs against Cloudflare's speed test servers, so Cloudflare sees your internet address during a test.
- The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no ads, and stores nothing in your browser.
Children
Speedlio collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this ever changes, for example if we add a feature that needs to keep something, we'll update this page first and change the date at the top.
